Default Picture vs Real life (aka what body would you build?)

So I have two friends. Both are huge. One is particularly big and in fact bigger than the other. He is a bodybuilder and is very commited and would like to do some competing some day.

The other friend does crossfit style training and is a marine. He is very commited to running and doing functional movements.

As I said both are HUGE. Biggest guys I know. The picture of the bodybuilder looks pretty much like he does in real life except he seems a bit bigger. The picture of the marine looks okay, but compared to him in real life seems really bad.

The interesting thing is that in real life the marine takes the cake, hands down. Every guy I know would rather look like him even though he is smaller (but not small). The bodybuilder would be inspirational if he weren't standing right next to the marine. They both have good abs although the marine has a lower bodyfat. I figure it comes down to him having bigger shoulders, triceps, and forearms while also having smaller biceps and traps. He has a little longer upper arm compared to his chest.

Like I said, it's funny because they are both huge and should both be inspirational but the marine eclipses the bodybuilder in looks and also fitness. He can run faster, longer, jump higher, react faster. Physically superior in every way except brute strength.

I just find it interesting, because I found pictures don't tell the real story and size isn't the only important thing.

Any comments, takes, comparisons?

Here is a photo of the two, I'll let you decide who's who. There are some artifacts on the picture due to identifying marks I removed sloppily. Also, the faces have been blurred out for their privacy since they have no knowledge of this post and I really wouldn't want the bodybuilder to know about it anyway.
