| Skinny Guy Coach ![]() ![]() | On Sports Science, they tested the effects of adrenaline on UFC fighter Houston Alexander. Using a basic overhand right, they had him punch a crash test dummy fitted with pressure sensors to measure his punching power under 3 circumstances: 1. Calm 2. Self-created adrenaline 3. Injected adrenaline Now watch the video: http://mmamania.com/2009/03/30/houst...science-video/ One of the reasons why I posted this was I was wondering how many people use the power of adrenaline when they're lifting weights? I always try to harbor anything that upset me recently and let it out in the gym. Yesterday, I let it build up kinda like Houston did when his manager was yelling at him about his last loss. I usually try to psyche myself up a bit on the heavy 4th lift, but this time it was different. I decided to try this on my 4th set of deadlifts and even though I increased the weight by 20 pounds, I was able to get the same number of reps as the 3rd set. I nearly started crying like Houston, but held it in, lol. Guess I didn't build it up as much as he did. Pretty amazing stuff!
