I can only do 3 pull-ups, is that enough?

It does NOT matter how strong you are, the only thing that matters is that you work YOUR muscles to their current maximum. If you currently get fatigued doing 3 pull-ups then that is the maximum your muscles can currently handle and it is sufficient for muscle growth. Later on, you may get fatigued doing 8 pull-ups – don’t get caught up on the “number”. 8 or 3 it does not matter, because at both levels, you worked your muscles to their maximum level at that time, so the result is the same – maximum fiber recruitment and growth stimulation.
