Should I work chest and shoulders on separate days?

This question, I've always pondered about.

Anthony Ellis' book (the edition I have) suggests doing them on the same day.

Yet when you talk to most serious or veteran lifters they tell you to do them on separate days.

So, what's the right answer?

From what I can tell, it seems that beginners should work them on the same day, but those who have been consistently lifting a while should definitely do them on separate days.

I have a lot of experience, when it comes to pitfalls, so I have summarized my findings into 10 commandments of weight training.

1) PLAN Your meals. If you prepare meals only when you feel like it, inevitably you'll run out and end up eating whatever.

2) LOG your workouts. How on earth can you push yourself if you don't even know what kind of iron you pressed last week? If you aren't progressing, change the exercise.
