Not following the program entirely Hey guys,
I've been trying to figure out if I am doing the program properly or not. Like I said before I've been somewhat following it for the last 5 years, but never did it exactly. I ran through a trial and error about a year ago and i realized that after the first 2 weeks, I only gained in the first and my strength did not increase in the second week. So the third week I increased my intake 200 calories, and started to see gains again and strength as well when I started my fourth week.
Now that I restarted the program I know that I should be increasing my calories every single week (from the trial and error period) and I have been since my first week which started Sunday November 2nd. Ever since then I have gained 3.5 lbs first week, increased weight as my strength increased second week and I gained 2 lbs, and this week (3rd week) I noticed my strengths increased again by the poundage I'm lifting, and will probably see mass gain at the end of the week. This all looks great because everything is increasing week in week out but I'm not following AE's exact program
AE clearly states in his book that I should never increase my intake unless I don't see any increase in strength and body mass. I'm not following that, I'm just increasing every week because I know from my trial and error of the past 5 years nothing will change with me unless I increase intake. I'm what AE calls a super-hardgainer really fast metabolism Is what I am doing right? From you guys' experience do you think I will get a problem that cannot be fixed by doing this since I am not doing it as AE says?
also if you look at the mass workbook at page 6. For weeks 21-23 he says don't change calorie intake just concentrate on lifting heavier each week. How is that possible? I thought to be able to gain weight you need bigger strength, from what I told you about myself I don't think I can increase my weight by staying on the same diet for like 3 weeks. I HAVE TO INCREASE EVERY WEEK. I know it's a long ways away from those weeks but it's better for me to find out now rather than later. What should I do?
Thanks !
