Weight increases between sets of Squats I know most of you guys use 5-10 pound jumps between sets of alot of the compound exercises. To me i need more about 15 pound increases between sets of Bench press, shoulder press, bentover rows, SLDL's to make sure i am not going over the specified rep range. I just cant figure out my between set weight increases for squats. I was using 30 pound increases between sets of squats but ending up starting out with 225 pounds for the first set and it would be too light and my reps would go over. By the time i got to my last set i would struggle with 315 pounds. Should i lower the weight in between sets, so that my first set is challenging so that i do not go over the specified reps? Maybe 20 pound increases?
I noticed that Anthony would do 225 pounds for his first set and end up doing 495 pounds for his last set of squats. If he could squat 495 pounds for 1 rep, wouldn't 225 pounds feel extremely light? He should have been able to do alot more than 8 reps on the first set. |
