Default Deadlift question?

im making out my mass gain workouts and had a question about deadlifts. are deadlifts a leg workout or a back workout? i know they work both but do heavy deadlifts work more of the back or the legs? when i do 10x10 deadlifts i always feel it in my legs the next morning and a little in my back and shoulders, but when i do heavy deadlifts i always feel it in my back, shoulders, traps and abs the very next morning and never in my legs. so i guess what i want to know is where should i put my heavy deadlifts at leg day or back day?
